Color Masters Painting repaints the inside of homes across Daytona Beach, South Daytona, Port Orange, Ormond Beach and the surrounding Volusia County towns. Walls, ceilings, trim, doors, closets and garages.
Interior work is less about the paint than about what happens to your house while the paint is going on. Most of the questions we get are about furniture, dust, smell, and how many days you will be living around a crew. Those answers are all below.
Estimates are free and written out room by room, so you can see what each part of the job costs before you commit to any of it.

What happens to your furniture and floors?
Everything that can leave the room leaves the room. What cannot, like a bed frame or a wall unit, gets moved to the middle and covered. We put drop cloths on the floor rather than plastic sheeting, because plastic slides underfoot and tears.
Trim, outlets, switch plates, hinges and hardware get masked or taken off. Taking them off is slower than taping around them, and it is the difference between a line that looks sharp up close and one that only looks sharp from across the room.
At the end furniture goes back where it was, plates go back on, and the room gets vacuumed. You should not be cleaning up after us.
Can you stay in the house while we paint?
Yes, and most people do. We work one area at a time so you always have somewhere to be. Kitchens and bathrooms get scheduled so you are never without either one overnight.
Interior paint today is low odor or zero VOC and the smell is mostly gone within a few hours of the last coat. We open windows and run fans while we work. If anyone in the house is sensitive to smells, say so and we will price the job with a zero VOC product from the start.
If you have pets, tell us which rooms they use. We keep doors closed and let you know before we prop anything open. The same crew does our exterior work, so you are dealing with people who have been in the neighborhood a while.
How long does interior painting take?
A single room is usually a day. A typical three bedroom house with walls, ceilings and trim runs most of a week. Whole house repaints with a lot of trim, tall ceilings, or a color change that needs an extra coat take longer.
The biggest variable is not square footage, it is how much repair the walls need first. A house lived in for fifteen years has more nail holes, settling cracks and scuffed corners than a five year old one, and all of that gets fixed before any color goes up.
You get a day count in the written estimate, and if we are going to run past it we tell you while there is still time to plan around it.
Do you repair walls before painting?
Yes, and it is in the estimate rather than added later. Nail holes, anchor holes, dents, hairline settling cracks, lifting tape seams and scuffed corner bead all get patched, sanded and spot primed.
Water stains need a stain blocking primer or they bleed back through no matter how many coats go over them. If we find one we will also tell you whether it looks active, because painting over an ongoing leak only hides it for a few months.
Texture matters as much as the filler. If a patch is smooth and the wall around it is knockdown or orange peel, the repair shows through the paint in side light, so we match the texture before priming. Kitchen cabinets are their own job with their own prep, and that is covered on the cabinet painting page.

Interior Painting Questions
Will the house smell?
Not for long. We use low odor and zero VOC products and ventilate while we work, so the smell is usually gone a few hours after the last coat. If someone in the house is sensitive, tell us and we will quote a zero VOC product.
Do you paint ceilings and trim, or only walls?
All of it. Ceilings, walls, trim, baseboards, crown, doors, door frames, closets and garages. The estimate lists each one separately so you can include or drop any part of it.
Is there a minimum job size?
There is no set minimum, though one small room on its own is not efficient for either of us. Most people bundle a few rooms together. Call and describe what you want and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth a visit.
Can you match a color that is already on the wall?
Usually. We can take a chip in to be scanned and matched. A scan gets close but rarely exact on an aged wall, so for a repair in a visible spot we normally recommend repainting that wall corner to corner.
Do you move the furniture?
Yes, as part of the job. Small and medium pieces go out of the room, large pieces get moved to the center and covered, and everything goes back at the end. Anything fragile or genuinely valuable we would rather you move yourself.
How do I get a price?
